Day by day itinerary

1. Tangier - Chefchaouen

When you arrive at Tangier airport or port, we pick you up and set off for Chefchaouen via Tetouan and the Rif mountains, with good views along the way. Chefchaouen sits at the foot of these mountains. Overnight in a riad or hotel.

2. Chefchaouen - Fes

After breakfast we explore Chefchaouen, one of the most distinctive towns in Morocco. It took in the Muslims fleeing Granada in 1492 and, later, those expelled from Spain, which is why it looks so much like an Andalusian village: white and blue houses, a steep medina climbing the mountainside and Andalusian courtyards.

Then we continue to Fes. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

3. Guided tour of the Fes medina

At 9:30 we pick you up from your accommodation for a guided tour of the Fes medina, which dates back to the 8th century and still has its city walls. We start with a panoramic view from one of the hills around the city, then see the bronze gates of the Royal Palace, the Jewish quarter (Mellah) and the potters' workshops.

Next you explore the narrow streets of the medina on foot with the guide, lined with stalls selling fruit, spices, Berber rugs and handicrafts. We visit the madrasas, the Chouara tannery, Seffarine square, the souks and the Al Quaraouiyine mosque and university, considered the first university in the world.

Halfway through we stop for lunch at a traditional restaurant in the medina. In the afternoon we finish the tour and take you back to your accommodation.

4. Fes - Volubilis - Meknes - Rabat

After breakfast we head to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, known for their mosaics and temples, which you visit with a local guide. Then on to Meknes, the capital chosen by Sultan Moulay Ismail in the late 17th century, with 20 gates, more than 50 palaces and 15 kilometres of walls. We go in through the great monumental gate of Bab Mansour and visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, one of the most impressive buildings in the city.

Later we reach Rabat, the country's capital, to see the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower. Overnight in a riad or hotel.

5. Rabat - Casablanca - Marrakech

After breakfast we visit the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Chellah. Then we drive to Casablanca, with its wide avenues of Art Deco and neo-Moorish buildings.

After lunch we visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world, and stop by Ain Diab, Casablanca's beach. We then continue to Marrakech. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

6. Guided tour of the Marrakech medina

At 9:30 you leave your accommodation with the guide to see the best-known sights of Marrakech: the Bahia Palace, with its shaded courtyards and blue mosaics; the Ben Youssef Madrasa, a fine example of Moorish architecture; the Saadian Tombs, rediscovered in 1917 and restored; and the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, whose name recalls the more than 100 booksellers' stalls that once stood around it.

We also walk through Jemaa el-Fna square and the craft souks, such as the leather auction and the tinsmiths' and coppersmiths' workshops.

After lunch we drive to the Majorelle Garden (the Yves Saint Laurent garden) and take a drive around the new town to see the contrast with the medina. In the afternoon we drop you at your accommodation or at Jemaa el-Fna square.

7. Transfer to Marrakech airport

Depending on your flight time, we take you to Marrakech Menara Airport. End of the trip.
