About this tour

Marrakech is the capital of southern Morocco, a city known for centuries for its merchants and craftsmen. It has a warm climate, is surrounded by palm trees and rose bushes, has the snow-capped Atlas close by and is enclosed by 19 km of ramparts. Its architectural heritage has made it one of the most popular destinations for international travellers.

In its streets you find shops, hammams (public baths), traditional clothing, music and restaurants side by side, and very traditional neighbourhoods sit alongside completely modern ones. People are welcoming and you quickly feel part of the atmosphere. A tip: try your hand at haggling in the medina, it is part of the experience.

This tour takes you around the city from morning to afternoon: the best-known monuments, the souks of the medina, the Majorelle Garden and the palm grove. If you are interested in crafts, a visit to the tanneries can be added. Transfers are by air-conditioned minibus or 4×4 with a Spanish-speaking driver.

  1. Morning: Marrakech monuments

Koutoubia minaret: you start the day at the symbol of Marrakech, which served as the model for the Giralda in Seville. Early in the day the light is ideal for photos.

Saadian Tombs: a historic site of great architectural beauty, where you learn about the history of the Saadian dynasty.

Bahia Palace: a 19th-century masterpiece, with courtyards, gardens and highly detailed decoration.

  2. Midday: souks and lunch

A walk through the souks of the medina, among the colours, scents and sounds. This is the moment to practise haggling if you want to buy spices, rugs or souvenirs.

Lunch in a traditional restaurant, with dishes such as tagine, couscous or a mint tea. Lunch is not included.

  3. Afternoon: Majorelle Garden and palm grove

Majorelle Garden: a garden linked to Yves Saint Laurent, with cacti, bamboo, fountains and bold colours. Entrance is not included.

Marrakech palm grove: you end the day exploring this forest of thousands of palm trees. Optionally, you can take a camel ride or a quad ride.

  4. Extra: Marrakech tanneries

For those who want to see traditional crafts: a visit to the tanneries, where leather is still worked the traditional way. You see the whole process and the manual work of the tanners.
